ABOUT OUR

DesiGn Process

Our design process follows a typical series of steps from Concept through Documentation. Depending on the level of service needed for your project we may deliver all of the steps or just a few.

BELOW IS A DESCRIPTION OF EACH STEP:

01

CONCEPT

In this phase, our design team comes up with one or two design concepts for you to chose from. A typical concept presentation will consist of aspirational images depicting color, texture, and feeling.

02

SCHEMATIC

DESIGN

Once a concept is selected we move into schematic design. This is where our team translates the chosen concept into YOUR project. Here you will start to see materials being implemented in real space. Flooring, wall coverings, lighting and various other elements of the design start to take shape. Our designers use everything from materials boards to sketched rendering to depict their design ideas.

03

DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT

& FF&E

Design development is a refinement ofSchematic Design. This is when that coolwood look tile is selected based on not justlook but budget as well. Actual products specifications are made, millwork drawings are developed and the project goes from sketched ideas to a concrete design. At this phase we encourage our clients to price check the design.

DESIGN

DOCUMENTS

At AEDG, we aren’t architects, nor do we claim to be, that’s why we have developed what we like to call Design Documents. For seasoned clients, our Design Docs will look a lot like CD’s, but with one critical difference, no building details. Everything you need for your contractor to make cosmetic upgrades to your project are ready to go! For complex project, we hand over this set of documents to an architect of record and they take or drawings and fold them into their set of plans. Sometimes the AOR will add in more detail and sometimes the AOR will refine something to help in obtaining permits or with general value engineering. In short, we have our expertise and architects have theirs. We think this is the best way to service our clients.
